Hadith: jab kitab
wale (yahud aur nasara) tumhe salam kare to tum Wa-Alaikum kaha karo
Anas bin malik Radhi
Allahu Anhu se rivayat hai ki Ek yahudi Aap Sal-Allahu Alaihi Wasallam ke pass
se guzra aur kahne laga “Al-Saam-Alaik”
yani aap ko maut aa jaye to Aap Sal-Allahu Alaihi Wasallam ne jawab mein
sirf Wa-Alaika kaha Sahaba ne arz kiya ya Rasool-Allah Sal-Allahu Alaihi
Wasallam kya isko hum maar daale Aapne farmaya
nahi aur jab kitab wale (yahud aur nasara) tumhe salam kare to tum bhi Wa-Alaikum kaha karo

Narrated Anas bin
Malik Radhi Allahu Anhu : A Jew passed by ALLAH's Apostle and said,
"As-Samu 'Alaika." ALLAH's Apostle said in reply, "We
'Alaika." ALLAH's Apostle then said to his companions, "Do you know
what he (the Jew) has said? He said, 'As-Samu 'Alaika.'" They said,
"O ALLAH's Apostle! Shall we kill him?" The Prophet Sal-Allahu Alaihi
Wasallam , said, "No. When the people of the Book (Christian,Jews etc.)greet
you, say: 'Wa 'Alaikum.'"
